Dark Energy is a series of photographs of light emitted by cars, signs, and roadside electric infrastructure. The images are time exposures made at night on the road.
A new photograph is made in motion as I move through the fourth wall into the drama of the picture space. The camera shutter curtain parts, and energy from surrounding cars, trucks, street lamps, signs, and architecture is recorded with characteristic traces, as the camera waves, rolls, and turns.
On the other side of a moment, seconds or miles later, the curtain closes to reveal a documentary narrative of an unrepeatable collaboration.
